Peel the onions. Finely chop and fry gently in the oil until they star to brown. Open the tin of beans and strain and wash them. Pour them over the onions and stir. Chop the tomatoes in half and add to the pan. Stir and heat for a few minutes. Cover the mixture with boiling water and bring to the boil. Bring down to a simmer and add the other ingredients. Simmer for 5 minutes and then pour into a blender. Blend until smooth and then return to the pan. Warm through again and serve. Is also great served over vegan sausages as a replacement for baked beans.
