Grease a square baking dish and lay a 1cm thick layer of pastry into it putting it up the sides of the tray. prick it all over with a fork and then blind bake at 200 degrees for 10 minutes. Flatten it back down in the tray and spread with a thick layer of apricot jam. Melt 50g margarine in a saucepan and stir in the oats and syrup. Press this mixture on top of the apricot jam and spread evenly. Then return to the oven for 10 minutes or until the oats are golden brown. leave to cool for 10 minutes and then cut into small slices. carefully remove from the pan and put on a cooling rack.
